What proxy bidding means
Proxy bidding lets you enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay. Aucly then bids on your behalf only as much as needed to keep you ahead, using the auction’s bid increment.
Your maximum is the most you agree to pay if the bidding reaches that level. You may win for less than your maximum if no one else bids that high.
Example
If the current bid is £10, the increment is £2, and you enter a maximum of £20, Aucly may place the next required bid for you. If someone else bids £14, Aucly can automatically respond up to your £20 maximum.
If another bidder has already set a maximum of £20 or more, you may be outbid immediately even though your bid was accepted.
Your maximum stays private
Other bidders see the current winning bid, not the full maximum you entered. The organiser can still close out the auction using the final winning price shown when bidding ends.
Ties and outbid messages
If another bidder already has an equal or higher maximum, you may be outbid immediately. Increase your maximum only if you are comfortable paying that amount if you win.
Pay attention to any on-screen message after bidding. It will tell you whether you are leading, have been outbid, or need to enter a higher amount.
